What got you into the sport of wrestling?
I got into wrestling from someone on my rugby team asking if I would join the wrestling team, and at our town’s fair I got a card for two free practices so I figured why not give it a try, and I’ve been doing it ever since!
How would you describe the impact that wrestling has had on your life?
Wrestling has definitely had a huge impact on my life. It has made me a healthier person, it has helped me focus better, helped me become more confident in myself, and has helped me with overcoming some shyness.
What plans do you have for your future in the sport?
My plans with wrestling for my future involve wrestling throughout university and I hope to make it to a pan-am games in the future.
What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying wrestling for the first time?
Something I would say to anyone considering joining wrestling is to definitely go for it, yeah it may be hard at first but its it’s definitely worth the hard work and effort that’s put into it.
What do you like to do when you’re not wrestling? What are your hobbies?
Some things I like to do when I’m not wrestling would be boxing, I take up boxing during the summer when wrestling is quiet. I also like hitting up a gym on the weekends, I also like to spend time with my friends when I get a chance, and I also enjoy cooking and have had some fun experimenting with cooking during this pandemic.
Describe the most challenging aspect of being a wrestler.
A challenging aspect of being a wrestler would be finding out what techniques and moves work for you and which ones don’t because you’re constantly learning so many new things, that sometimes it can be hard to pick and choose from all the amazing options you have.
Tell us your thoughts on having an NCAA-style dual league in Ontario.
I think it’s amazing idea to have the NCAA-style dual league in Ontario, because it allows more wrestling competitions that can be more local. It also allows more of a team bonding experience because you will be able to watch your team and cheer them on, because sometimes at regular tournaments you don’t always get to see all your teammates’ matches.
Describe what “greatness” means to you in terms of wrestling.
“Greatness” in terms of wrestling means to me that you are constantly working hard and putting lots of effort in order to achieve the goals you set for yourself throughout the season.
